pHello!br /br /This Christmas I offer a more quot;modernquot; netcfg2!br /br /Now, there's a basic wireless via dbus/wpa_supplicant which promises to be much more reliable, a cleaner implementation, less need for hacks, and a tad quicker. br /br /Also, there's a new version of the ethernet connection scripts which uses iproute instead of the dated ifconfig. The new scripts again offer a cleaner implementation, smaller code and more flexibility.br /br /The new methods are much better than the old ones (which will still be available), though they use slightly different config options.br /br /They've both been pushed to git at a href=http://projects.archlinux.orghttp://projects.archlinux.org/a. I'll release tarballs, example configs and an updated PKGBUILD later today/tomorrow.br /br /Cheers! Have a happy and safe Christmas!br /br /James/p-- posted by iphitus

pPianist and composer Marcus Loeber is a href=http://ml1208.sellyourrights.com/collecting money/a for the release of his album “At the very moment”./p
pHere#8217;s how it works:/p
pFirst you choose how much you commit to pay while listening to excerpts from Marcus#8217; album./p
pIf the target price total is reached by the end of 26 December 2008, the album is released under a href=http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/Creative Commons BY-NC-ND/a and you will be charged the fee you committed to pay before./p
pIf the price is not reached then either Marcus will release the album nevertheless or he will decide to try something else. In the latter case you won#8217;t be charged any money./p
pThis album is definitely worth the money not only because of the music itself but also because it#8217;s one of the new ways to get paid for digital content./p
pRemember? This is one of the new ways of selling music that the music industry refuses to take serious./p
pLet#8217;s show them./p
pAnd while you#8217;re at it, grab some free music at a href=http://www.jamendo.com/Jamendo/a, too. :)/p

div class=snap_previewbr /pI#8217;m adding in sqlzma (squashfs with lzma) to archiso-live. I fould out how to make it work thanks to jenps a href=http://github.com/jensp/chaox-ng-livecd/tree/master target=_blankchaox-ng-livecd/a project. He had some PKGBUILDs on sqlzma and sqlzma-tools. I just copy fs/squashfs folder and made it into a tar named squashfs-lzma.tar.bz2. This was based on squashfs patch with lzma from kernel26slax he had at the time./p
pI think a offical one can be made if /usr/src/linux-$kver/fs/squashfs is added to kernel26. This is cause i copy /usr/src/linux-$kver to ${startdir}/src so all the building is in ${startdir}/src. I think from there i could patch squashfs with lzma. This will save me time from having to install a kernel to get the squashfs patch to work corrently. Of course this will only be of new kernels then 2.6.27./p
pYou can get it sqlzma and sqlzma-tools a href=http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=mK=godane target=_blankhere/a./p
pRSS FEED NOTE: There was a bug in the rss feed on all wordpress blogs. This made all wordpress blogs on planet.archlinux.org just have the blog name. Not the name of the post. p* removed blender and kino/p
p* Got elisa working again with my own build of it./p
p* Added p7zip, unetbootin, and singularity-base (game). NOTE: Unetbootin is used to #8216;burn#8217; iso#8217;s to usb sticks. This will make it easier to make usb sticks onto usb. You have to type in #8217;sudo unetbootin#8217; in terminal (without quote) to get it. After that your just using a gui app./p
p* I re-modular the archiso-live design. Its not has modular like last week where you could remove any desktop like awesome or icewm. I decide to have to have xorg modular have all the smaller wms cause it will setup load time that way. Most of the better apps are in 007_xapps now. Before there were package modules./p

I want to wish a warm welcome to our new developer and bluetooth maintainer, Geoffroy Carrier (gcarrier)
For those who don't know Geoffroy, he's been with us for some time, helped out with pacman development (in particular, with code in the signed-packages arena), and has been a TU for since May of this year. He plans on primarily helping us out with Bluetooth packages (which we've been slacking on these days), among other things.
Hip-hip-hooray!

pThis new version is a bugfix and feature release. Following features were added:/p
p- #1900939 Overlapping image preference/p
pThere were some smaller bugfixes and some error handling changes. For further versions I plan to change my image handling to cairo and a complete redesign of code and GUI. The project was started as a proof of concept and the current code design doesn#8217;t fit anymore my needs and skill. So this will be a complete rewrite of the complete project. Further information are on the project page on sf.net: a title=Project page href=http://gollage.sourceforge.net target=_blankhttp://gollage.sourceforge.net/a/p

With the latest update of texlive-core, some new hyphenation patterns cause TeX capacity to be exceeded when some formats are created. In the file /usr/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf, change the line
trie_size = 600000
to
trie_size = 700000
Then run
sudo fmtutil-sys --missing
and everything will be fine.

div class=snap_previewbr /pIts been almost 2 weeks and this release has a lot of updates. The big one being xorg 7.4./p
pChanges since last release:/p
p* Using older videoconfig now so xorg 7.4 will have video detection. Added xdepth to videoconfig script also. NOTE: You need to use fail safe menu option in virtualbox. This is cause my videoconfig uses every video driver but vesa in virtualbox. I think this is only in virtualbox but let me know if you get vga when you use to get vesa./p
p* Remove background picture on boot menu. This makes a lot easier to read the menu./p
p* Added elisa-bzr to iso. The one in cspan class=f3ommunity is not work at all. NOTE: I have not tested this with the new gstreamer packages today. It should work though since it work with the last version./span/p
p* The iso has lost 20mb in size since it has xorg 7.4 installed. This is cause xorg 7.4 is smaller then xorg 7.3./p
p* I add modules to my modules repo now. You can go to it a href=http://arch-live.isawsome.net/modules/ target=_blankhere/a./p
pYou can get the iso and modules list a href=http://arch-live.isawsome.net/iso/archiso/20081130/ target=_blankhere/a./p
pAll packages are update has of 11/30/2008 at 9:00 PM EST./p
pRoot password is ArchLinux/p
parch password is arch/p
pNOTE: You can use sudo in arch user to get root access. So you will not need the Root password alot of the time./p

X.Org 7.4 has been moved to extra. After sitting in testing for quite some months, it's time to move this package. This version fixes quite some issues present in the old version we had in extra.
This version contains some important changes:
- Input hotplugging is enabled by default now. See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg_input_hotplugging for more information.
