I hope it doesnt create a wave of people getting paid out - thats just as much inequality as what happened in the first place.
See a href=http://youtube.com/watch?v=2rdNUynVWZAPenn Teller - Bullsh!t: Reparations/a.
Disagree? Post a damn comment, Im sure nobody reads this blog anyway, so I couldnt be offending anyone regardless.

Ive been meeting with, dealing with reading up on local magicians quite a bit recently, so I thought Id share a few of my experiences there, and maybe try to drum up a bit a business.br /br /centerimg src=http://www.themagicstore.com.au/images/glenn.gifbr /bGlenn Hamilton/b/centerbr /The energy of this guy never ceases to amaze me - I wish I had half of it. Im pretty certain Ive read somewhere that hes been voted Melbournes best childrens entertainer at some point (Im probably doing him a disservice here, Im sure it was better praise than that). I couldnt find a blog or website for him, unfortunately, but you should be able to reach him through either a href=mailto:glenn.hamilton@themagicstore.com.authis email address/a, or through Ellis Webster, mentioned below.br /br /centerimg src=http://www.themagicstore.com.au/images/dean.gifbr /ba href=http://www.deanatkinson.blogspot.com/Dean Atkinson/a/b/centerbr /Once a href=http://deanatkinson.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-many-other-people-can-say-this.htmlspent three months sitting under the stage of The Globe Theatre dressed as a fish/a. Ive only seen him at work once, but it was an awesome Mentalism act, from memory. Or did he just fool me into thinking that? It was a bit naughty though, so maybe not for the kiddies. br /br /centerimg src=http://magicunlimited.typepad.com/2623_new.jpgbr /ba href=http://magicunlimited.typepad.com/magic_unlimited_with_elli/Ellis Webster/a/b/centerbr /Most awarded Australian Magicians in history with 22 awards between them. Unfortunately, Ive never seen one of their shows, Though Im keen to catch a show as soon as I can. You can a href=http://www.magicunlimited.com/ArtistBooking.htmhire magicians to suit a wide range of occasions/a, including themselves, through their booking service. Webster (the blond) also does a uncanny Jeannie (I dream of Jeannie) impersonation - you can hire her for events for this, too. Also, check out Tims a href=http://magicunlimited.typepad.com/magic_unlimited_with_elli/telemarketers/humorous encounters with telemarketers/a, theres quite a few fun things there to try.br /br /Theres many great Magicians that Ive missed out on, as is evident on a href=http://www.magicunlimited.com/ArtistBooking.htmEllis Websters artist booking page/a. lt;subliminalgt;Hire one for your next function.lt;/subliminalgt;br /br /Mela href=http://www.mel8ourne.org8/aourne: Magical enough already, more so with these guys in residence.

a href=http://lequack.livejournal.comLisa/a and I were in a car accident on Thursday. Luckily, no-one was injured, just our cars.br /br /She was driving her car, with me in the passenger seat, down near Altona Library. Some stooge decided theyd go right through a give way sign, and ploughed straight into us, pushing us all into a car waiting at a give way sign on the other side. The accident instigator was being a bit funny about the story, so the police were called in to take statements from everybody. Looks like a bit of court time probable demerit points for the instigator. Lisas car had to be towed, along with the instigators. Probably a couple of weeks before its fixed. Very annoying, as she depends on her car for a lot.br /br /Sigh.

Inspired by a href=http://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/Dr Karl/a and his podcast push, Ive been hacking recently on a podcast tracking/downloading application for the GNOME desktop. Its not up to much yet, as Ive never coded a downloading app before, but the basics are there. Its even got an icon, although a href=http://www.livejournal.com/users/crimson_wishes/Georgias/a promised me a better one once I install a href=http://www.inkscape.orgInkscape/a for her.br /br /Anyway, dont expect much, a bit of a rewrite is necessary, as the UI hangs while a file is downloading (Is gnome_vfs_xfer_uri() the right way to do this, or would gnome_vfs_async_xfer() be a better way?), some of the files are missing the GPL header, the downloading directory is hardcoded (The bit in the preferences dialog has no effect ATM), a few changes left from gnome-hello and a few bits and bobs in the UI are missing/incomplete. br /br /The source is a href=http://home.iprimus.com.au/bain5/peapod/peapod-0.0.1.tar.bz2here/a for anyone keen to finish it off before me (Hah, more like so people can kick my arse into gear to finish it).

Well, were in Canberra at last, alive and well. Its now day two of a href=http://linux.conf.auLCA/a, I spent the first day at the Debian miniconf, and today at the GNOME miniconf. Some pretty cool stuff was shown at the Debian miniconf, I was really impressed with the fastest Debian system in the world. The GNOME miniconf was good too, lots of development stuff, brilliant.br /br /Unfortunately, I was told the wrong pub to go to afterwards, so we ended up wandering around in the city for about an hour and a half, before heading back to the motel, sober and hungry. Bah. I probably couldnt drink much tonight anyway, considering the bottle of scotch I guzzled last night. br /br /Oh, and my blog is now aggregated on planet.linux.org.au, so a big hello to everyone there.
